the other deeper reason wyra doesn’t like to wear it is not only bc she technically joined as a privateer and only got the maelstrom ranking after being WoL but bc she has a mentality of her loyalty is to her *crew*. if merlwyb gives a truly bad order she won’t follow it.
wyra grumbling and acquiescing to the request of PLEASE WEAR YOUR STORM CAPTAIN UNIFORM during the beginning of stormblood and immediately ditching it once they set sail is so funny she’s like. admiral’s not around can’t tell me what to do!!!

“how would king work if merlwyb exists” wyra is king of both unaffiliated lominsan pirates AND privateers. also it’s a position merlwyb knows can pop up whenever the brethren court gives a damn / grumbles about if everyone had wanted to vote on it YEARS ago she wouldn’t have had to hold the trident

Bris is a samurai from cradle to grave, though her look changes slightly a few times. Mostly her hair gets longer with each expansion until she hits Stormblood, and from there, it stays more or less the same. She loses her white eyepatch and eventually changes her gloves to just wrappings.

Like, even as someone who loves Limsa...yeah it feels like people don't even read the in-game text about Limsa. Even Merlwyb acknowledges a lot of the shit Limsa deals with is their own damn fault because of how they've treated the Kobolds & Sahagin.
