I'll be away tonight by the time the word game goes up, so here's a #wipwednesday preview of the #MDZSRBB2025 #wangxian that will appear this FRIDAY; so excited to get to share with you, because the art is so freaking gorgeous and you will love it.
Finally Wei Ying drops onto the edge of the bed and blurts, ‘Lan Zhan, are we married?’ Lan Wangji’s hands freeze in place, the soft cloth slipping from between his fingers. Whatever he imagined Wei Ying was gathering the courage to say, this is a question he absolutely would not have predicted. He looks up, completely unprepared, to see Wei Ying shifting uncomfortably on the edge of the bed. ‘We — what?’

‘Of course,’ Sizhui agrees, so readily that Wei Wuxian feels a very uncomfortable surge of disappointment. Of course Lan Zhan didn’t accidentally marry him, but why is he suddenly feeling conflicted about that? ‘I don’t mean you actually eloped. But tying the ribbon around your wrist and bowing together to one of the ancestors does sound a bit like that, doesn’t it? Sort-of married, at least.’ Wei Wuxian snorts. ‘Sort-of married,’ he echoes, as the full implication of that hits him. ‘It’s a good thing we didn’t. Can you imagine?’ He grimaces, lifts the wine jug in a silent toast to ancestors-know-what and downs it. ‘He didn’t like me at all back then, but if he had, if we had, he’d have been in mourning for all that time and couldn’t even—’ Wei Wuxian is an idiot.

Wei Wuxian hangs off the ropes of a wrestling ring, one leg hooked over the middle rope with his body facing the viewer. His dark hair is long and pulled into a ponytail with his red ribbon also hanging from it, and his bangs chaotically pushed out of his face. His wrestling outfit is complicated, mostly black and red. He wears black sleeves all the way up to his shoulders, bracers on his wrists and black gloves. His black wrestling tights have gray designs like smoke and show off his muscular thighs. Over them, he wears calf-high black wrestling boots with red “blood” splatters and straps. A dark gray cape-like fabric wraps around his torso many times over, tied with a cool skull pin at his right hip. His chest is bare and expression dangerous, accentuated by sharp black eyeliner. The background is dark purple and blue, and Wei Wuxian is backlit by bright stage lights. Lan Wangji looks commanding, standing in the middle of a dark purple background. He wears a white unitard that barely fits around his huge tiddies, his signature white forehead ribbon, and his long dark hair is swept behind his shoulders. The bright stage lights glare imposingly from above and the sweat on his body glistens. In the middle of the ring, with stage lights bright behind them and the crowd a blur, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji face each other. They wear their standard wrestling uniforms, Lan Wangji in his white forehead ribbon and a white unitard that shows off his broad bare chest. Wei Wuxian in all black, arms covered with his chest bare and a high pony tail and red hair ribbon. Lan Wangji’s arms are firmly folded behind the small of his back, his body stiff while Wei Wuxian grabs him by the jaw to keep him close. Their expressions are both intense but Wei Wuxian’s is also playful and challenging as he licks obscenely over Lan Wangji’s mouth.

Before he left though, Wei Ying gave Lan Zhan an odd look. He leaned forward, his face coming incredibly close. So close, Lan Zhan had the insane thought that Wei Ying was going to kiss him. It’s too soon! He needed to push him away. Lan Zhan closed his eyes. After a few seconds passed, he realized nothing happened. He opened his eyes to find Wei Ying holding a giant beetle by its shell in front of Lan Zhan’s face, the legs waving in the air. “You had this on your shoulder.”
