Rewatched yuri on ice for the first time in 7-8 years (!) and it’s still THAT good. Makes me sad all over again that we’ll probably never see a continuation — or iceado 😞

Very much! I kept telling myself I was doing it for me, and for my gf and my beta reader too, but I burned out hard and the fandom was so bummed after the IceAdo cancelation that I just don't think I have it in me. I took most of this year off to write my own original book instead.

Yeah YOI was huge, to my memory. I wish I'd watched it as it was airing but I missed the train on that. Even still, I've introduced lots of people to anime with YOI and it holds a special place in my heart.
I really wish they would have put their hearts behind it and released IceAdo anyway, though.

Best thing is, YOI wasn't even unpopular. It was big af, and the jumpstart to Mappa's growth as a studio. But then, homophobic management happened, covid, and the Ukraine/Russian war, making IceAdo pretty much impossible to release

I expect fans, who have convinced themselves that #YuriOnIce is dead and only stuck around because they were waiting for IceAdo to happen, to abandon the fandom intermediate-term. I feel sad for them, it's their loss - but it's also their choice.

Olympic quad again, mostly because LMFFY was bounced off real life skating and well... between what the pandemic craziness and the drama of the 2022 Olympics (which I feel Beijing 22 figured into the death of IceAdo tbh) it would be a major downer to try to write.
