Itif I see any drama call out or whatever bullshit I immediately know it’s fucking fake as hell and I just brush past it because that’s some literal middle school bullshit that’s so many NSFW artist and vtubers seem to be ENTHRALLED about being a part of if it attacks a POC or vulnerable person 🫩🫣
and people trying to actively cut off my support network through call-outs and documents that are a billion pages long full of nothingburgers.

they tell me I need to be "held accountable" but why does that mean bullying and doing surveillance on everything I post + trying to sever my connections

Privacy solutions are falling for an old trap of dividing the personal data world into “sensitive” and “non-sensitive” data: These kinds of measures are often well-intentioned (or not, in the case of ITIF) but woefully short-sighted, says @hackylawyER:

As someone without much of a bone in the access/correction/deletion fight, I think ITIF will have trouble with its qualified rights that let companies charge for access. I always go back to online dating platforms -- should I have to pay money to see what Tinder has on me!?!

If your key source is a Google-funded proxy (eg ITIF) then you're not reporting the news. The reality is EU Digital Markets Act is smart law restricting gatekeepers (eg Apple, Facebook, Google search/ads) from abusing their market power. US should be 100% aligned with EU here.

🚨 New ITIF report: Chinese platforms Temu, AliExpress & SHEIN continue to sell counterfeit goods, risking U.S. consumers & businesses.

ITIF bought 51 items—nearly half were likely counterfeit.

USTR should add these platforms to its Notorious Markets List.

How Chinese Online Marketplaces Fuel Counterfeits
Chinese e-commerce platforms facilitate sales of counterfeit products, threatening U.S. intellectual property, fair competition, and consumer safety. Policymakers should take action to hold these platforms accountable and protect American consumers and businesses.

Attention, energy policy wonks & data nerds! ITIF has just released a full breakdown of the $9.3 billion in federal funding on the table for energy research, development, and demonstration in FY24—9 DOE offices & 24 subprograms, illustrated with lovely charts and a honker of a dataviz. Enjoy!
Energizing Innovation in Fiscal Year 2024
The FY 2024 budget request, if met, could maintain bipartisan momentum for clean energy innovation. Congress should support that innovation to foster domestic clean energy industries that can compete globally, minimize foreign dependencies, and address climate change.

I’ve taken ITIF with a 10lb bag of salt for years. The analysts are smart, but their list of funders is revealing. The idea they can speak to Canada’s best interests is laughable at best. itif.org/our-supporte...
