Delft is one of our favourite cities and a delight to stroll around, discovering historic buildings. We came across this by chance, photographed it and then learned of its significance. Info in alt text.

The green leaves of a tree can be seen on the right. The pavement is surfaced with red bricks and the front of the building has a row of small stone pillars, supporting iron chain link fencing. The Gemeenlandshuis, a rare example of a late-Gothic city palace, was built around 1500 for a chief magistrate and bought in 1645 by the Delft Water Board members for their meetings. The water authority celebrates its 736th birthday next Monday. The building is open to the public

Er zijn, naast het Gemeenlandshuis, ook gemalen open op zaterdag 13 september 2025 van 11.00 uur tot 16.00 uur.

The Gemeenlandshuis in Delft, in the Dutch province Zuid-Holland, is the head office of the Water Board of Delfland. The late-gothic house was built gebouwd in 1505. Stained glass windows with brown, orange shutters. The sand stone front has several coats of arms attached to it. The hair color of a cyclist, passing the building, matches the color of the shutters. On the left a pedestrian with a white cap on.

Het eerste schilderij is inderdaad een gezicht op de Oude Kerk in Delft. Met aan de linkerkant ook het Gemeenlandshuis, waar nu het Hoogheemraadschap Delfland zit.
