#Footit
Bit of #footit gold on the dawn dog walk, my fairly regular Little Owl having a scream up before he goes back to bed.
As they’re disappearing from the county at a huge rate of knots, it’s good to get one 1/2 a mile from home

Kingfisher added to the #footit list.
Paths flooded after yesterday’s deluge.
River going at a helluva lick.
66 species for Footit.

Halfway for #footit 3 more miles with 36 species seen. 4 new birds today were White Fronted Goose, GBB Gull, Grey Wagtail and Redpoll taking my #footit total to 62 species and 16 miles walked, averaging 3.87 birds per mile.

Cheers Jonny
Fortunate to have plenty of time to go at it 🥾
Is there somewhere to list our FootIt birds ? - it would be interesting to see a collective tally of everyone out on foot 🎯👍🏻

First #FootIt competitor to the big 100! 🎉💯
Can’t be that many of these around in the UK in January ??
#NEBirding

After adding RLP, this takes our local inland #FootIt year list to 100 species 🎯

Still restricted to local walks due to a damn virus. Looked thru’ 100s of Dunlin for a Ringed Plover. Walked different lanes for a Mistle Thrush. No joy.

Dusk watch for Barn Owl drew a blank but rewarded by my 3rd record of White-fronted Goose from home. Already on my #FootIt list so stuck on 99.

Away in Glasgow today so no #footit other than to the train station and back. I did take a quick walk into the park once back in Dunblane. The pond is still frozen but clearing, so the mallard are returning at least!

Short lunchtime walk down to the river in town. Nothing new for #footit but I watched this dipper for a bit.

Mobile phone record shots of the Great Livermere village Firecrest from earlier.

9 miles today (Axminster/Kilmington) brought the #FootIt list to 54. GBBG was unexpected, but other highlights were 2 Song Thrushes in full song within 100m of home, and at least one uncooperative Sibe Chiff at Kilmington WTW with a conservative estimate of 60+ collybita. 😎

Yesterday’s cough has well and truly settled in. No running and only limited local walking today.

Desperate times call for desperate measures when it comes to #FootIt, so I checked out a couple of sites for Black Redstart. Been three years since my last local bird. And I’m still waiting.

Went for a quick lunchtime walk to Holmehill earlier today to look for hawfinch, without any success; however as I was leaving the house I heard and saw 2 whooper swans flying over - that’s a new one for #footit, bringing the total up to 78.

Those are four species I’ll not see during #FootIt

A small chance of Woodcock if I were to run to a woodland and stumble around for a bit.

We’ve lost Little Owl in the last three years.

I’ve only seen Tree Sparrow once in Devon, decades ago. Corn Bunting would be a county tick.

Med Gull at the Rec this morning. Presumably the same bird I saw on Saturday. #FootIt

Based on your latest #footit total of 93 species covering 94 miles, that gives you an average of 0.98 birds per mile.
I am on 58 species with 13 miles covered, that gives me an average of 4.46 birds per miles, so mathematical if I was not so lazy and walked 94 miles that would put me on 419 species

Coughed my way around the patch late pm. Needs must for #FootIt.

Headed to the cemetery for Mistle Thrush. Dawdled in Bowling Green Lane hoping for something new among the Long-tailed Tits. No luck on either count. Down to the marsh. Bingo. 4 Gadwall (#99).

Would an owl make it 100? Not today.

Nice! Been pootling around Topsham this afternoon trying to find my 1st Fieldfare & Mistle Thrush of 2026 for #FootIt. No joy here on that front.

We think it is @melcoate.bsky.social and @lymnocryptes.bsky.social tied at 98 in the @footit.bsky.social leader spot... if you can beat that - let us know!
