This week, I taught this wonderful paper from #FAccT2025 in my CS course.

Is this a "survey paper"? Or a "position paper"? Or ... ?

Should its inclusion in arXiv face extra boundaries that randomly generated eval bench numbers go up papers don't face?

Genuine question despite my phrasing!

A gift to myself after an intense year of general chairing #FAccT2025 -- 2 weeks of disconnection in Iceland, and in particular, completing the epic 55 km Laugavegur trek in the Icelandic otherworldly wilderness. Thanks to everyone who has patiently waited for my responses. Now onto new challenges!

Thank you to everyone who joined Partnership on AI and Data & Society for our mixer at FAccT 2025! It was a pleasure to connect with researchers, advocates, and practitioners who are actively shaping what participatory AI can look like in practice.

See you next year!

I think the community's ability to look inwards and be self-critical is part of what makes it special, and this is something I believe is important to preserve even when there is disagreement on how to do things or perhaps just different theories of change #facct2025

FAccT is such a special community & many of us have invested a lot of service time/effort to support it over the years. I do believe engaging with uncomfortable questions & dialogue is important even when there is criticism (which can be hard to hear, can feel unfair/demotivating & sucks) #facct2025

Maria has been such a key leader of the FAccT community, and as ever her insights are worth taking time to sit with.

Many thanks for your years of service @mariadearteaga.bsky.social! And while you deserve a rest, I hope you'll still be an active part of the community.

The end of #FAccT2025 marks the end of my 3-year term as FAccT EC, which followed a 2-year term as DEI Chair. It has been an honor to serve this community and watch it mature.

I could not agree with this more. The positive energy and support we give each other keeps us going. #FAccT2025
Ensuring our mode of conversations and engagement is directed towards community building and strengthening is so crucial at a time when many in power will be rooting against us.

a question to the audience about how many of us know people who couldn’t attend because of political reasons, who can’t keep their heads down because their work is inherently political, how many people have reached out to local organizers like AAUP

Wholeheartedly enjoyed my time in #FAccT2025 in Athens (not so much the heat wave). It’s an open, welcoming, human-facing, an truly interdisciplinary community where the most timely & crucial questions are being asked and explored. Having a gorgeous city as the backdrop certainly didn’t harm either.
