Mugged Oz In one of the more incompetent diplomatic displays in recent memory, Australia managed to blow AUS $9m & the support of 20+ countries and hand COP31 to Turkey. Ankara, which has an NDC/climate plan rated as ‘critically insufficient’, will host the summit with the Aussies handed the thankless task of running the negotiations. They’ve been absolutely mugged. Aus minister Chris Bowen put a brave face on it but Turkey has done em, hook, line and sinker. Erdogan Rubbing his mitts is Turkey’s President Erdogan, not a man known for giving a few hoots about climate change. Turkey’s main push appears to be a “zero waste” campaign run by his wife. Look forward to plenty more fish n chip paper on that, plus the unforgettable mottos: “The world is bigger than five” and “A more just world is possible”. The next Turkish election is 2028 and the leading opposition candidate is facing 2,000 years in jail. We may have fixed the climate by then.

Fridays for Future COP 30 statement part 2 Adaptation: Despite the irreversible damage caused by the climate crisis and the resulting political instability, the funds allocated for adaptation are 12 times lower than the estimated requirements of 310-365 billion dollars per year. Only 40% of total climate finance is allocated to adaptation. To reverse this trend, it is essential to prioritise inclusive governance and locally-led climate resilience solutions, systematically integrating gender, equity and justice into decision-making processes. Adaptation cannot ignore a community-centred approach, especially in contexts where the consequences of climate crisis amplify pre-existing vulnerabilities. The Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) must be transformed into an operational framework with quantifiable and measurable objectives and means of implementation. NDCs and NAPs must be implemented through grants, concessional and non-debt-creating instruments to avoid enhancing inequities. Loss and damage: Funding for Loss and damage must cover material and immaterial damages that communities face due to the climate crisis, with at least $400 billion per year needed. To date, only $402 million has been paid into the fund, less than 0.2% of the requirement. An independant Secretariat from the World Bank is needed, with transparent and inclusive management and direct feedback channels with communities. National NDC policies and plans must integrate Loss & damage commitments. Rapid responses to climate shocks, micro-projects and small-scale grants need to be supported, empowering local governments and communities. This is a legal and justice obligation according to the princples of equity and common but differentiatied responsibility. We need to move beyond voluntary contributions, making commitments binding and holding the biggest polluters accountable. Taxing the weathiest: We support the introduction of a minimum tax of 2% on the assets of centimillionaires (Zucman), with the proceeds going towards financing the fight against climate change and the protection of forests. We also believe that countries with 29nd greater resources should contribute proportionally to the protection of the global environment.

Start & End paragraph n0trixx fled Russia after protesting against the regime and its attack on Ukraine. She lives with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and along with the other Neurodivergent Crew (NDC) members, she is admirably frank and open about her struggles. After originally fleeing to Turkey, she now lives in England near her NDC friends. She is signed to UMG subsidiary PHARMA and her cathartic music might be what many need in today’s world. n0trixx’s set is brief but electrifying. Merging Eastern European and Turkish influences with trap, nu-metal and industrial vibes, results in something strikingly original. Her eastern-influenced vocal melodies stand out, and her rapid-fire rhymes rival top rappers, making this a storming set. Start & End paragraph Somebody comes out to the beer garden and shouts “FMA + 12 Gage in 2 minutes.” An underestimation as 45 seconds later I’m in the venue and they’ve already started The Machine. Which is a BIG fucking tune. The father and son duo immediately start spitting lyrics at a rapid pace. FMA paces the stage like a caged polar bear, while 12 Gage seems slightly calmer, though he’s hardly static. You can hear FMA hitting his chest over the sound of the PA, as he delivers his lines. Few acts fully commit to every word of a set. Despite my fluctuating love for rap, these guys remind me of my first encounters with Public Enemy, Consolidated, and B. Dolan. The final song is Finito, whose music is house flavoured with some of the bass skullduggery of dubstep. It provides a high tempo, high energy finale to what’s been a stonking set that made me tired just watching. Start & End paragraph Dreadnought’s set celebrated his debut album, Fatal Flaw. His music fuses industrial beats, metal, and trap with rapid-fire raps and indignant fury. It’s dark, horror-laden, musical violence and it perfectly caps off the vibe of this five-band bill. After a brief Madonna-assisted introduction, Dreadnought immediately gives you a pummelling with Gambit, a malicious industrial metal assault. It’s a furious start, and Dreadnought exudes great stage presence, immediately engaging the crowd. The subsequent Sharkbait is another face-melting sensory assault, like an unholy alliance between American Headcharge and Ministry. There’s one last song as the other NDC members come on stage to perform D.A.A.Dy. It’s a fitting end to the set, having all the NDC together on stage. It’s obvious just how much these guys support and inspire each other. And in a fractured and fucked-up world we all need people who have got our backs. A great end to a highly entertaining set.

As a social researcher at the time. I worked on his NDC (New Deal for Communities) for a number of years . And saw how investment and face 2 face interviewing with people really brought change to those communiteis. And their lives. RIP
