I don't really remember WHY I wanted a nickname, but back in 1984 or 1985 with a friend of mine who had an Atari 800 XL we decided we needed some "hacker names".
I chose "Dbug II" which was supposed to mean "Débugue tout" ("Debugs everything"). I dropped the II in the 90s

the bad news is: i should not have put a tracing event in the thing that we have to do every time we want to log to the UART...
