Not used perforce, but + bazaar, mercurial & darcs (for a little while only) ... But of late git has dominated alongside fossil-scm.org for ad hoc collaborative setups (fossil combines > git versioning + bug tracker + wiki + web interface in a single binary, & the repo is one sqlite3 file).

My thing about Git and GitHub is that in '04 I entered a CS PhD program.
For the next 7 years every piece of software I downloaded came as a tarball from some professor's website, and my own professors were so excited about Subversion because they were used to CVS. Occasionally I heard about Darcs.
