So now my #DXCommander will be used for Band-Hopping on all bands, except for 160m and 60m. Those will use the 2nd antenna port, which is a rain gutter inverted L. Well, sideways L really, it goes up a little, and over a lot.

Same advice…
Foreground right, part of #DXCommander is visible. But it has an extra element wire that goes up about 2/3 of the way, then rises toward the SE, and out of frame, up to about 46 feet. Above the place where garage roof meets house roof, a mast holds a UHF/VHF collinear vertical. Also, TV antenna, and FM antenna, and WiFi outdoor mesh access point, so neighbors several houses away in all directions can see my guest WiFi SID, which changes frequently among various phrases insulting the stupidest POTUS ever. Never heard anyone mention it, but I’m hopeful that it really irritates some of the stupidest neighbors ever.

Brand new DX-Wire Micro only 4g/m, breaking load 23kg, outer diameter 1mm, almost invisible. Will be using it for the vertical Fan dipole project ala #DXCommander #hamr #hamradio

Although I do sometimes get European hits on 10m, it seems more often it’s like this, where ALL the 10m stations I hear are Central & South America.

Is this what you other midwest hams see? Or should I consider moving my #DXCommander vertical?

What are you looking for exactly? DXL is an entire toolkit. Use one, some, or all. If you just need a basic log tied to your radio, then DXCommander (CAT) and DXKeeper (logbook) are all you need. Setup is pretty much the same for all logbook programs. As your needs grow, you can use other bits.

The NE corner of my QTH, where my #HamShack sits just on the other side of that window. Note the gutter and downspout. The center conductor of “Ant 2” coming from FTdx3000 & VersaTuner is connected to this downspout about a meter above the ground. The shield of same connects to an on-ground counterpoise that runs from here to the NE corner of the lot. It presents an excellent match where FT8 and 160m meet… mysteriously. Same NE corner of house, but tilted up to see an #EdFong jpole antenna at almost 50 feet. It’s a #DXEngineering carbon fiber telescoping mast. It has six Mastrand guys. It’s RG213 all the way up. That antenna serves APRS W0MHR-2. Just below the jpole there’s a pulley, used to raise the tip of an 80m quarter wave nearly-vertical that I jerry-rigged to the #DXCommander

The blower is heaviest part, so that won’t move from a gust. Coax connects by blower, but another bit of coax runs inside fabric tube the blower is attached to, to the feed-point in the middle. Vertical driven elements are strips of faraday cloth sewn to the vertical tube. The longest, 40m element goes up one side, over the top, & partway down the other side (just like DX Commander). With only 3 faraday cloth ribbons going up from the base, you get 40, 20, 15, & one more band chosen from 30 thru 10. (40 & 15 are the same element.) Each of the bottom, horizontal tubes have 2 or 3 ribbons of faraday cloth running from the center to the ends, for ground radials. Screenshot of VE6SFX’s Fara-J page on vfcomms.com
