Nice! The #Daggerheart CGL has been updated and now includes some VTT.

Now sure… it’s a bit loosey goosey, but it’s a far cry better than WotC’s attempt at redoing the OGL or Darrington Press’s dreadfully drawn DPCGL.

But… it’s open. It’s cool. And if all else fails, it’s set in stone with the way back machine. There’s no putting the genie back in the bottle.

They suddenly see that the DPCGL has issues and want to alter it to better suit their whims.

Now you, a 5 year creator with them, are given a choice to either stick with them and take changes you don’t like, or totally abandon your business model.

But here’s the trouble: Darrington Press requires that you abide by their own version of the OGL, the Darrington Press Community Gaming License (DPCGL).

That’s the first misstep.

... the doctrines of laches and acquiescence may make it harder to later object when word gets out about mass takedowns (by YouTube, #DarringtonPress, or its successor in interest) in the future.

Agreed! I've heard other contract-savvy folks say the DPCGL is fine/standard, but at best, the vibe is still off.
The long-term success of Daggerheart, like any RPG, depends on indie creators being comfortable creating for it without feeling like they must hire a lawyer to read the license first.
More people should be talking about this issue with the Daggerheart license. I just read the license. I'm not a lawyer... but it absolutely smacks of the WOTC OGL "we own everything you make" and "we can change it whenever we want" vibes.
For all the bluster about wotc changing the ogl, it seems really weird that the daggerheart guys put a clause in that lets them unilaterally change the terms of the license with no notice but automatically signs you up for the new version

They're already inviting 3rd party creators to jump in:

"The Darrington Press Community Gaming License (DPCGL) empowers creators to build and share their own adventures, settings, characters, and gameplay content: printed supplements, livestreams or podcasts, or creating digital materials..."
