Conowingo Dam is a nearly century-old dam/hydroelectric plant across the Susquehanna River; Route 1 goes across the top of it. It's a very scenic view, a cool-looking structure, and we sometimes stop to visit and watch eagles.
Bonus: It's not I-95

Hawk Point, high atop the Susquehanna River gorge in Susquehannock State Park is a wonderful place to view the river as it turns into Conowingo Reservoir. Its also a favorite site of thermals that eagles, and vultures like this one, adore.

Photographers flock to Conowingo for the eagles, and rightfully so. But I say that Bombay Hook is even better when the eagles are there, particularly if low tide is in the afternoon for best sun placement.

It was a cold day, just about the freezing point, but the bald eagles at Conowingo Dam put on quite a show today. (Conowingo Dam's Fisherman's Wharf and Pier is one of the best eagle-viewing spots on the east coast.)

Stopped at Conowingo Dam for a few hours yesterday. Most of the eagles were WAY over on the other side of the river, in the trees and on the rocks. But a couple were on our side of the river in the trees along the walking trail, having a snack away from their peers... #birds
