here's a concrete example done differently: CalyxOS and I think GrapheneOS too (android firmware) both have custom drivers for the GPS device in android phones that lets you use software to turn its reporting functionality entirely -- so every app that looks at your GPS thinks you're in Houston, TX.

2 years ago, I bought a Fairphone 5 while traveling to England.
I have used CalyxOS on it, slightly different. CalyxOS is rethinking their status.
So far I like it, with some cautions.
ATT does not sorry wifi calling.
I have not yet purchased any parts, but it may be a challenge […]

i’m looking to switch to it because of the calyxos update pause and i installed it on another 6a to test, my seedvault backup and everything seemed to work but my main question is how does the play services sandbox differ to microg in calyxos?

GrapheneOS, LineageOS, CalyxOS, /e/phones, CopperheadOS, and a few other privacy focused custom android operating systems aren’t gonna be lil black boxes in your pockets and let you control much more of how your data is handled. You can still install regular most of your regular apps on there too

Sin ser técnico, creo que el problema es más de hardware que se software en ese punto.
Android es código abierto y existen versiones que funcionan por fuera de G (Graphene, DivestOS, CalyxOS) pero muy pocos dispositivos te permiten instalarlos fácilmente (irónicamente, uno de esos pocos es Pixel)

CalyxOS is really not a better yet suggestion being that 3 core developers including the project's founder have quit along with the organization's founder. Their updates have ended, likely for good. Don't have 2025-06-05 patch level or later and won't receive it, & beyond 2-3 month patch delays now.

People should get rid of the apps on their phones and use the browser instead, better yet use GrapheneOS or CalyxOS and use browser. Reclaim your privacy today. Make sure your phone has ongoing security updates. Regularly check your device settings and scan for malware.
