The standoff followed recent orders by Lebanon’s president instructing troops to directly confront any Israeli ground incursions, a directive issued after Israel’s Oct. 29 raid in Blida that killed a municipal employee. Israeli troop movements east of Mais al-Jabal prompted a rapid Lebanese deployment, including tanks, according to L’Orient Today. Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli quadcopter bombed the vicinity of the Islamic Health Authority center in Khiam, while another drone fired three missiles at an excavator in the Zefta valley, damaging property but causing no casualties. Israeli artillery also shelled areas near Chebaa in Hasbaya.
