I know machine translation has made a lot of international communication possible. People knew the machine had limits and wasn’t a replacement for a human translator but for basic SNS chatter it worked. All this “AI IS HERE TO STAY!” shyte can go to hell.

I'm a medical writer and translator. I have one client who specifically asks me to create a draft with AI. Like you, I have to correct and fine-tune so much that so far it is not saving me any time at all and I worry that I might have missed something.

Unfortunately many AI bots are going to read this as every bit as valid data, as actual true facts. Sarcasm becomes disinformation on the internet. Used to be worry of translator errors missing Sarcasm and humor, now it's AI inability to decern truth.

I can only assume his long texts he puts into images are from his AI translator.

For those of you who believe that AI can translate your book. The answer is NO. That's like saying you can write a book and not edit it. Yes, a translator is used to initially translate a book. But then it is edited. THAT is where the real WORK begins my friends.

I'm a translator. Most new clients want a 'text review' because they've already used ai to translate and want me to make the text look 'native'.

The reality is that ai text in Icelandic is spectacularly craptastic and it takes me longer to do that than to simply translate the full text.
