1: betcover!! - Yuki (勇気)

album.link/s/1XNE6xQzrl...

This blew me away. Such a cinematic work, great blend of Japanese blues with Jazz-Fusion and Progressive Rock. Truly one of the albums and one of the bands of our times!!

2: Hiromi's Sonicwonder - Out There

album.link/s/5Z1XM55fh2...

Out There is a masterpiece of Jazz Fusion; it proves that Hiromi and her band are the most versatile and expressive Jazz artists of our time, capable to blend well synths with Jazz-y grooves.

3: PucliPerla - Tatekieto

album.link/s/3s0Ob5hSVg...

Tatekieto is a really nice debut for a collaboration of two bands: Pulcinella and La Perla. While it carries the heat of Latin music, there are also refreshing Jazz arrangements on there. I highly recommend this album!

4: Maruja - Pain to Power

album.link/s/6wymdowW8H...

This is a monumental debut album which cements Maruja as one of the most interesting bands that came out of the uprising British Indie scene. It's terrifying but hopeful work, proving that art remains one of tools for resistance.

5: Swans - Birthing

album.link/s/05rmFti1xK...

Birthing is Swans' "Post-Rock era" epilogue. It's an intimidating endurance test which rewards the listener with some of the most beautiful and terrifying soundscapes of Swans has ever produced. A masterpiece of Post-Rock classicism.

6: Geese - Getting Killed

album.link/s/0eeXb23yMW...

It's a bold and challenging masterpiece which cements Geese as the most unpredictable and vital indie band. This record manages to be both physically demanding and intellectually dense.

7: Demo Rumudo - Second Nature

album.link/s/3wXuW53q6y...

Second Nature is a masterclass in balance, where Demo Rumudo successfully bridges the gap between old-school Progressive Rock and modern Jazz-Fusion.

8: McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!

album.link/s/0RXsRwX4iM...

This is the most ambitious work by McKinley by far. By treating music as a literal incantation, he has created a project that is both a philosophical thesis and joyous celebration of life.

9: Turnstile - Never Enough

album.link/s/52yD51X7yD...

You know what, hardcore elitists can eat my ass. It's so much fun to listen to this record. It blends the hardcore music with New Wave (think of Police) and Dream Pop so well, that you don't get tired listening to it.

10: Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant

album.link/s/037axs2AfE...

You can feel a huge inspiration from BC,NR music circa Isaac Wood being their main songwriter. However, RMP here adds their own flavoring to the music and imo one of the indie bands to keep an eye on.

11: Wednesday - Bleeds

album.link/s/29HKbQ2pgX...

This record is truly an achievement of making a breakup album while avoiding all the cliches by rooting its pain in a specific place. It's very raw, noisy, and empathetic record which cements Wednesday as one of the Indie bands.

12: Tropical Fuck Storm - Fairyland Codex

album.link/s/2SCljWoTOQ...

This is TFS's most cohesive work since their debut album and it's amazing. It's a nice blend of Art-Punk and Psychedelic Rock. It feels like a "toxic coral reef".

13: Snõõper - Worldwide

album.link/s/1Lej9DPOh2...

Snooper improves their lo-fi sound while keeping their speedy and freaky energy. This record is more accessible rather than their debut album, it's colorful, frantic, and anxious at the same time. Such an addictive work.

14: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Carpe Diem, Moonman

album.link/s/16GtmNPUFA...

Psychedelic chaos is back and this is probably PPC's most dynamic release since their first two albums. On this record, they lean more into Heavy Psych and even sprinkle some Math-Rock on top of it.

15: Pile - Sunshine and Balance Beams

album.link/s/0mlgaAp88E...

Pile comes back to their "Post-Hardcore" roots with more cinematic and orchestral textures in place. This is Pile's late-career masterpiece and most overlooked band in this genre imo.

16: Ethel Cain - Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You

album.link/s/3iSPMfhw4P...

This is a prequel to Ethel's 2022 record "Preacher's Daughter", which, in comparison, is more dense and claustrophobic exploration of teenage first love and a further expansion of Ethel's lore.

17: Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer

album.link/s/77CZUF57sY...

This debut album by Ninajirachi is essentially a love letter to the digital world, exploring her lifelong "relationship" with technology. Amazing blend of hyperpop, club EDM, and internet culture.

18: Little Simz - Lotus

19: Agriculture - The Spiritual Sound

album.link/s/4HxzA7GFGt...

Agriculture fully realized their vision of "ecstatic black metal" and improved their sound. This record is a masterclass in dynamic contrast, shifting between blast beats and moments of fragility and beauty.

20: Model/Actriz - Pirouette

album.link/s/3MAtJ9jJmv...

Pirouette is a bold work from queer music scene. On this record, Model/Actriz trade the darkness of their debut album for a more colorful, theatrical, and "diva" energy.

Valerian Tea by Magic Fig is a delightful psychedelic throwback vibe. Some of it is quite modern sounding, some of it is *super* retro psychedelic. All super enjoyable. #indieRock #neoPsychedelic #2025albums
