#1124cc
The LN (Hélène) became the LNA (Hélèna) in 1978, with the A signifying mechanical improvements. It gained the 652cc engine used in the far more idiosyncratic new Visa, later adopting Peugeot four-cylinder power too. The 1124cc LNA 11E and RE belatedly appeared in the UK in 1982.

In France the van was known as the C15 from the start. Its brochure used imagery showing various tradespeople with the vehicle, which was available initially in 1124cc C15E and 1769cc C15D versions. The model soon proved popular and would have a long life, surviving until 2005.

Selling principally on its low price and miserly fuel consumption, the Samba started with a basic 954cc model, sitting below the 1124cc LS seen here. Peugeot by now had a far more modern and successful supermini in the shape of its own 205, and the Talbot marque was looking increasingly irrelevant.

Citroën facelifted its Visa hatchback in 1981, ushering in a more conventional frontal appearance, aimed at achieving wider sales appeal. The quirky dashboard with its satellite pod remained, though this would be ditched in later years. The 1124cc Super E concentrated on fuel economy. #weirdcarbs

The Visa's Peugeot 104 roots were extremely well-disguised, but the latter's 1124cc water-cooled 'suitcase' engine, fitted in the Super E model, was one giveaway. Inside, however, the car was full-on Citroën. In the company's line-up it replaced the elderly Ami.

There was also a very practical 204 estate car, available in 1124cc petrol or, for some markets, 1357cc diesel versions.

After a 12-year-career, the highlight of which was the 204 being France's best-seller from 1969-71, the model was finally dropped in 1976.
