I’m sorry, but it’s not true. Every command has to be accepted by NATO SupremeAlliedCommanderEurope which is always an American.

I hope so doesn't fall for that. These same promises for protection were made in the 90s. That didn't stop Putin from grabbing Crimea to get a foothold inside Ukraine. The u s did nothing. It's a bad deal for Ukraine and Ukrainians, they should be in NATO.

That's an apt description of their thought process, though I'd include the Ukraine Invasion as another exception since they blame the US/NATO for "making Russia lash out."
