Anyone with colorblindness or low vision will probably struggle to tell books apart - b/c there's a lot of tone-on-tone, low contrast patterns, & repeated patterns in the books. (also it's *really* hard to see through the genre sparkles sometimes -& they regularly blend into the books/bookcases)

With how scruffy your hands are you might need to look at getting a heavier duty moisturizer- think Gold Bond, something with hyaluronic acid like these and possibly putting lotion on your hands before bed with like gloves on over the lotion.
