The mapping is OKish. Not the best but reasonably passable (at this point, any mapping which doesn't include "grey zones" is not great). The real issue is that reading their reports tells you essentially nothing about what's going on in the war. The analysis is terrible or non-existent.

It would be really cool if people thought about/used LLMs as language models, to be honest.

Bomb the hell out of the RSF and supply the Sudanese Army/Legitimate Government with whatever they could possibly need.

I never felt any desire to cook until I had to cook, essentially. It's not weird for to me that a rich person could end up never cooking.

One of my big take aways from the last year or so is that we need to talk about and teach 17th century English history way more in this country (as it's essentially foundational to the ideological basis for the United States).

Did you ever tell the story of how you ended up high up in Google?

That bridge would have linked a major town with its international airport!

Real issue is that Polymarket is using ISW mapping. Not a good source and not an organization which provides quality analysis. You learn absolutely nothing substantial from reading their updates.

Cannot overstate how much the vast majority of the deadliest wars and conflicts since 1991 have taken place within "civilizational regions" rather than between them.

Interesting once or twice perhaps. But after you've seen a few dozen dead bodies...

Excuse me, Ben Garrison comics have already been "I never want to see another as long as I live" long before Nano Banana.

someone should tell these guys about medieval accounts of holy relics healing people. Having they seriously debate that would be hilarious.

What about GPT-4.1? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure 5 used a new base model, just not a bigger one than 4o.

I'm partial to Duncan McCulloch's pieces on the Recon-Fire Complex(es). Reading them was really the moment things started to click for me for understanding why the war looked like it did: duncanlmcculloch.substack.com/p/reconnaiss...

Is it platonism or is a side effect of the RLHF stage teaching it not what to do and thus creating associations between things?

I think it might just be slowed down a lot from filming? Slow motion looks weird.

Russian drones are way more likely to be fiber optic. They adopted it at scale far ahead of Ukraine.
