I think this is because most gamers recognize that graphics are only a small piece of the puzzle that can make a game good. Minecraft, Stardew, Balatro, and FNaF are all examples of wildly successful games that focus on fun gameplay & mechanics over high quality 3D graphics.
It doesn't matter who you are or how well you speak. The moment you get a bubble in your throat, everyone thinks you sound like a dipshit clown and will laugh off anything you have to say for the rest of a conversation. Throat bubbles are the great equalizer, folks.
