I like your ident thing btw. Northumberland is one of my favourite places, and the flag is oddly quite close to the Catalan flag (another unbelievably beautiful region), so I always think of them as spiritually twinned.

This is a useful Bing AI result. "Signs Of death".

Very useful in the case of zombie reawakening, maybe.

What the hell is going on bottom left?!

My left arm is half dead. I suddenly have enormous respect for basket weavers, and I have to carry on until I've finished.

Also, good god this particular job is very tedious, *but* better than letting the basket continue to fray and fall apart at the front.

Well this made me laugh, anyway (you have to open it up).

It's basically impossible to fix a puncture on the back wheel, since *any* messing with the back wheel if you're not extremely knowledgeable about the gears screws the gears up, the breaks are hub, and the cabling is uniquely strange! Chain & sprockets covered up, top cover won't come off (etc,)

How not to 'restore' a burial chamber.

So who is ready for some Admiral Fitzroy 'news'? (Don't all rush at once).
I actually yelped out loud: outside a church on the main olde worlde shopping street in Stromness, stuck to the wall was an actual barometer as purchased by Fitzroy because the Admiralty wouldn't pay for them.

I've been here about 15 hours and already want to not leave.

Also, in the Orkney Museum there is a whole room exhibition of the works of a local artist who was... Jim Baikie! So lovely and unexpected. Also, shock news, he seemed to be a great bloke.

I am on Orkney.

The ferry runs alongside the Hoy cliffs,, with the Old Man stack, a multitude of caves, eroded channels and strata. Absolutely beutiful and amazing weather. Thank you universe!

Fair enough, they'll have to 'get by' on not much at all though. Not sure that he's really sorted out the dowries ongoing to any great extent. He's deliberately portrayed as negligent:

I have a new hobby. Finding live webcams in cities in the US which seem to be having intense lightning storms. It's never quite as dramatic as it looks on the map but Lakeland, Florida, was just really catching it. The webcam was a boring road, lightning flashes whiting out the cam.

Now, UK people, I ask you: when was the last time you heard a cricket?
They seemed to disappear from (south) London completely, 10-12 yrs ago? I hate going past overgrown grass verges (a good thing) and not hearing them.
Except in my rampagingly wild back garden for the last two years! Say hello:

My people!

Still don't like larping though.

One of our harvestman spiders was a harvestwoman, and has had babies! Well. Her wee egg sac thing what she has been guarding did.

Taking a monkey spider off my top and spotting a young mistle thrush and blackbird whilst waiting for a coach. First time I've seen a thrush for *ages*. It's a beautiful little thing!

The little starving cat who turned up in my garden and the RSPCA became involved after it looked like she was pregnant (we couldn't keep her due to overt allergies in-house) turned out not to be pregnant but in fact have a life-threatening uterine infection is doing very well with her new fosterer.
