Hymer 2000 might also be the first game that plays with face pareidolia and seamlessly weaves it into the story

5. These sublet ads. I get at least one in my groupchats daily (it's 'registration not possible' for me)

Anyways there's a lot more to offer in this short and dense experience. I was surprised at the depth it was able to go in such a short amount of time. (If you play it pls also leave a review!)

3. These haircuts ifkyk 😭
4. Everything about this exhibition brochure is so accurate that I thought it's real

2. This map view (not for this particular city, thankfully I don't live in the fictional city of Amsterdam) triggers a core memory

Finally finished Don't Get Your Hopes Up (store.steampowered.com/app/3795490) by @krishraghav.bsky.social all I have to say is pls play it yourself! Without spoiling the experience too much here are my favourite moments in the game with minimal context

1. This was a brutal read, I audibly gasped

Of course it has to be Tianjin

as a child but never watched the actual show, I remember it so clearly because I liked that the all-girl cast looked cool and different with their powers, which still stands from today's perspective.

I'll continue watching anime from my childhood to see which parts touch little me and me now!

Just finished watching My-HiME (2004) and ugly-cried to the finale. The anime started as a high school drama with an uncomfortable amount of fan service but it ended as a fable about... patriarchy? In this world only a dozen girls are gifted with combat powers, which are secretly used by the state

100%ed Whisper of the House today. It's cute, touching and occasionally spooky, and has some 4D chess meta narrative thing going on (spolier). The most satisfying aspect of the game is that I ended up owning 4 properties without having to pay for any of them, truly any working person's wildest dream

Theory A: once reviews breaks a certain threshold it only tends to get lower until something major changes (broken-window-esque), the new language-based review display definitely doesn't not help
Theory B: it's just us Asians being Asians 😂

Oh well

So around 50% negative reviews are complaints about the game not having presale/presave which wasted a lot of people's time.

The other 50% are about translation quality.

Players from my country never fail to humble me

I started playing Whisper of the House last week without much expectation, but it ended up being one of the best games I've played this year

The game has small touches of detail and secrets tucked away everywhere. A rare game that reminds me of childhood

The More Like This section at the end of the store page is funny though

What is even going on here

(Jk, I know exactly what's going on here)

POV you are a Chinese Steam user and this is how your front page looks like every single day

The new Steam language based review stats update is so unkind to certain games... Blue Prince has nearly 10k reviews globally and now it looks like some mid game that no one heard of on my Steam client

Hahaha here’s more!

But honestly indie zone is the best, thanks for your service 🫡

This Gamescom is really special to me because it’s our first time getting a B2B booth to show our games to press and content creators, one of the game being FEROCIOUS. The devs happen to be Cologne locals so they could showcase the game in person. Seeing people play the game IRL hits soo different

Nice booths

It’s actually interesting and eye opening to check out the megacorp booths because they somewhat represent the state of the industry, and Gamescom is the highest calibre of gaming events there is. I genuinely enjoyed the hype, energy and extravagance. I feel that we need it

No context Gamescom

Why do Gamescom B2B areas look exactly the same every year 😅 It’s almost like I never left
August 20, 2025 at 12:47 PM
How do I even explain this to the English speaking world
August 19, 2025 at 9:55 AM
If I didn’t work in games I’d still be playing one game a month and life would be good
August 15, 2025 at 6:10 PM
I see what you did there
August 12, 2025 at 7:03 PM
This might be niche but ever since Douyin started to show random indie games streams (mostly by small streamers) on my FYP I’ve added bunch of games to wishlist and even played some

I only watch these streams for like a minute but something about seeing games in action really does something for me
