Just a reminder: you are NOT unusual, weird, or unlovable if you have:

- no one to see on Christmas Day,
- no presents, or
- no contactable relatives.

Very few people live the idealised version on TV. Those of us who live differently—whether by choice or trauma—matter as much.

The last few days before Christmas is a bit rough so what a way to counteract a six course taster meal with cocktails

A fascinating read. I've come across critiques of the idea that trauma is literally stored in the body and then released (healed) through shaking. But this article offers many other important critiques of van der Kolk's particular claims and approach.

Tough, moving and relatable, much of which aligned with being a child/young teenager sexually exploited.. it took me a long time to read as had to step away but articulated it in a way I have not myself yet managed to do…

So today’s #3goodthings:
Finished a book I’ve been reading for ages
Went out for a solo walk and paid attention to the world around me
Spent a few hours doing Lego which is my favourite distraction

Mood has started to dip the last few weeks, I’m going to start a daily #3goodthings throughout December staring from this evening. I’m not minimising or saying that doing this cures severe mental illness but December is a tough month as it is for so many so holding onto hope and glimmers help ✨

Two very different social events last night.. one seeing the peers and receiving some beautiful gifts from an incredible team, then crossed town to remember our friend. What’s clear is we are not the same without you 💔

Yesterday we hosted Karolina Kozik and Kriti Sharma, from @hrw.org, for a visit to our services.

We discussed our innovative approaches, such as developing a new 24 hour community mental health centre, efforts to reach people from ethnically diverse backgrounds and our respect training.💙

A recorded ramble through some issues facing mental health nursing in the UK, and something to think about for anyone interested in mental health care. It's 2 hours, but there's a pause button, and some have said they enjoyed it, without me paying them to. #MHDeservesBetter #MentalHealthNursing
