London’s Black led youth organisations are doing powerful work supporting and uplifting young people in their community, but they’re struggling without proper funding. Most of their work is happening with little to no sustained support.

"I dont want anymore of us to die" - Trans Youth Deserve Better.

Powerful @notaphaseorg.bsky.social vigil for Trans Day of Remembrance.

Stop trans people being scapegoated, erased or used as a political football, it is costing lives.

Love & solidarity to anyone who has lost friends or family 💗

Councils like Hackney are being asked to deliver more with less every single year, while the cost of living continues to rise.

This budget must be a turning point & must address inequality.

I've written to the Chancellor outlining what Hackney needs.

Building of no affordable homes started in Hackney since April.

We need more government funding & must transform a broken housing market dominated by a cartel of greedy developers, which is bankrupting councils, inflating land values and making desperately needed social housing harder to build.

Thank you to everyone at the Faith Tabernacle Chruch of God (Dalston) for such a moving divine worship. A wonderful community. Was so special to spend the time together. Still thinking of those waiting to hear from family in Jamaica. 💚🇯🇲

Heartbreaking & infuriating email to receive from a resident trying to get a repair sorted for his mother-in-law. This isn't how services should operate or make people feel.

Highlights from yesterday:

👀Discussed Live Facial Recognition with students at London Disciplinary School.
💗Caught up with Krista at Co-Create Hub.
🌍Visited Low Carbon Chinatown exhibition at Hackney Service Centre.

Queen’s Market in Upton Park isn’t just a place to shop, it’s where community happens 💚

We can’t afford to lose spaces like this to another round of “development.” If we want to invest in this city, we need to invest in its people and protect spaces like these, not build more unaffordable towers.

🚨Four more traders have been evicted in Elephant and Castle.

There’s Save Ridley Road, Friends of Queens Market, Save Brick Lane, Friends of Shepherd’s Bush… these campaigns exist because people are concerned about the future of our markets and community spaces.

Delighted to be invited by @jeremycorbyn.bsky.social and @peaceandjustice.bsky.social to speak at Grassroots for Gaza last night.

Tonight at Full Council (with my two fab colleagues), I asked the Cabinet Member for Housing in Hackney:

❓Cabinet committed on 12 June 2023 to recruit a dedicated empty homes officer "soon". An officer is not in post, so when was this commitment dropped ❓

Keeping up the pressure to get rent caps for London's renters.

I asked the Mayor of London what he is asking for as part of the Devolution Bill to help London's renters who face ever increasing rents.

Dalston Liveable Neighbourhood proposal - lots to be positive about improving air quality, better for walking etc

Residents who are going to live in it did raise some concerns about getting out & in and some pinch points. Council was listening.

With @liamzud.bsky.social & Ülgen Semerci 💚
