Considering how they were both co-developed by Japan Studios within 1-2 years of each other, I think the mechanical & aesthetic DNA shared between Bloodborne and Soul Sacrifice/Delta might be more than coincidence. IGDB doesn't have credits for SS/D though, so I'd have to cross reference in-game

I remember encountering this illustration and the accompanying text on Wayne Barlowe's portfolio site as a kid, and feeling my brain light up like a chain of firecrackers. The native, pre-Fall denizens of Hell! Imagine!!

First encountered it as a kid playing Gundam Battle Assault 2 for the PSX, where it was this giant monstrosity that couldn't fit on the screen and needed a 236K input to turn around. Immediately thought "oh, this is the coolest thing ever"

On one hand: the monster designs are inspired, on that Kingdom Death shit. On the other hand, their body language is incomprehensible; most attacks are "the boss flails around and hits everything around it at random." The relatively samey bodyplans in MH were for readability, not just asset reuse

Got Soul Sacrifice Delta working. American McGee's Berserk. Maximalist, trashy, dumb as rocks. A lot of fun so far.

Distant Horizons LODmap finished baking and I became so overcome by the splendor of nature that I had to get up and go for a walk to appreciate it IRL

Playing Siralim. Monster collecting blobber where your party is a Rube Goldberg machine of synergies that you feed enemies into like a woodchipper. Lots of fun sprites. Using some guys from the "Sea Shambler" family (pictured), who render healing spells harmful to enemies. On sale right now too!

No joke I think this is the best time I had watching a "Sword & Sorcery" movie that wasn't Conan 1982
