Remote work is so freeing and refreshing. I took a break this afternoon and went to roam the backyard and check out our with the family. Two of our cats even joined us and enjoyed themselves in the more naturalized landscape. If this is what I can look forward to in my 30's, sign me up!

The MSPs thriving in 2025 stopped trying to be everything to everyone.

Specialization feels scary when you're hungry for revenue. But trying to be everything to everyone is how you become nothing to no one.

What's your unique specialty?

Everyone loves to show their homelabs when it's done, buyt what about while it's still in progress? Equipment has been moved to the new location (ignore the janky paint, thanks previous owners of this home for that). We have some redundant items in the rack still, but they don't have a new home yet.

Spring was in the air today. Went walking around downtown Buffalo for a photoshoot to get some professional pictures done for my IT consulting firm. Here's some pictures I took last week while walking around downtown. Can't wait to get my pictures back from the photographer. #buffalony #buffalo

Introducing Metal Monday. Each week, I'll be sharing a metal track that I believe will resonate with our professional journeys. Let's kick off this week with some heavy inspiration and channel that intensity into our projects. (Plus, I get to share some of my favorite metal music with you all!)

I repotted a trimmed up my Aloe yesterday. Rotated the pot as well so it can try and start leaning back in the other direction. Sorry for the previous minor neglect my sweet Aloe plant..

2 weeks ago I seperated with the MSP I was working for. Today, after a week of negotiations and discussions, I've officially signed my first client as a freelance IT consultant. I'm chasing my dream and I can't thank my lovely fiance @ekcreates.com enough for their unending support in this endeavor!

Sometimes when a door closes, you should leave that door closed and move on. Parted ways with the MSP I was with, call it fundamental differences.

Got the StarCraft, Doom, and Command and Conquer games dusted off and on my bookshelf. Also got those from my mother in law. They had sat in their basement since my father in law passed away.

I've acquired a Neat Desktop scanner from my mother in law, it used to belong to my father in law who was a big privacy and tech nerd. He even had a homelab from the mid 2000's.

I never got to meet him since he passed away of cancer before I met my wife. I'll always be sad I never got to meet him..

Since I agitated my back, I decided to sit down this evening and get my Dream Machine Pro setup and configured.

Got everything configured and moved to "prod" successfully. That little bit of moving cables was enough to annoy my back, so to my desk I went with some ice. Taking it easy and resting.

Out with the old Watchguard M300 in my homelab rack. In with the new Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro. 😀 I'll probably keep the M300 in the rack since I often used it to troubleshoot problems in live environments.
