Addison Barger becomes the 24th player to hit a grand slam in the World Series. The very first was Elmer Smith in Game 5 of the 1920 World Series for the Cleveland Indians. He hit it in the first inning off of HOF pitcher Burleigh Grimes. #WorldSeries #BlueJays

I can't make Fetch happen, but we are going to try to make "Triple Wash Day" happen.
Shower, Laundry, and Dishes is a Triple Wash Day.

The depth of 1988 Topps is often greatly overlooked. Look closer and there are four defined layers.

Foreground to background
1) Name banner
2) Player
3) Team name
4) Photo background
A hidden masterpiece.

🎵Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time
Dancin' in the desert, blowin' up the sunshine🎵

The Chicago No Kings protest today brought out over 100K people. The march was 2 miles from Washington Blvd, up Michigan Ave to Wacher Drive, and back south along Clark St and Jackson Blvd.

An 1887 baseball game in Philadelphia featured railroad employees who were missing an arm or a leg.
That hook to the waist seems like a cheap move.

No matter what you think of the guy or the way he is running the organization, Minnesota Twins Owner Jim Pohlad looks great for his age, 72.

Is it fair to say this is a photo of the 1939 HOF induction class, even if they were not all elected in 1939?

Never realized there were two photos from this sitting that are from the same angle. Grover Alexander is looking in different directions.

Today, Russell Westbrook signed with the Sacramento Kings, which will be his 7th NBA team.

Only two other former NBA MVPs have played for 7 or more teams in their career.
Moses Malone - 9 (7 NBA, 2 ABA)
Bob McAdoo - 7

The gold glove finalists were just announced. I was surprised to see that Byron Buxton was not on the list.

Then I looked up his Defensive Runs Saved numbers. In 2025 he had a -5 DRS. 😮 How did that happen?

Somehow, I missed this 2020 Collegiate Summer League team. The Round Rock Hairy Men. Definitely one to add to the all-time minor league team name list.

I need to remember that the curvy mountain highway roads of upstate New York are not the flat and straight speedway roads of ChiLand.

Do you know what day it is?

It is The Shot Heard Around the World Day.

On October 3, 1951, Bobby Thomson hit the game-winning home run off of Ralph Branca to put the New York Giants in the World Series.🎉
(Also Dave Winfield's 74th birthday)

Everything I own was packed away and jammed in the back of my car for this move. Except for one thing. Billy was hand carried and never out of sight for the trip.

A question that always rolls around in the back of my head. How did Kenny DeNunez get a 1942 Kansas City Monarchs hat in 1962 Los Angeles?

I like to think that he got it from a former player who may have played against Mr. Mertle.

Why was this at my local grocery store in ChiLabd?

I have no idea but I needed something for my milk to dunk the cookie I just bought and all my glasses are already packed, so big serendipity win for me.
