I didn't realize that on Roberto Clemente's last #Topps card, the minor league statistics from his time in Montreal are included.

I want to turn to any random sports stranger next to me and say, "Did you see what the Bears did to the Packers last night, haha?" Then I remember I am no longer in the Midwest and said stranger would not understand the rivalry or even care. So I stand alone and silent.

In 1948, Willie Mays played for the Birmingham Black Barons at their home park, Rickwood Field. Rickwood was built in 1910. Congrats to @markarmour04.bsky.social for correctly answering the trivia.

Always good to keep in mind when you go down those baseball rabbit holes.

On August 27, 2022, nearly 50 years after his last game, the New York #Mets retired Willie Mays' jersey number 24. Only three players wore the number for the Mets after Mays.

THE BROOKLYN NINE
A very underrated young adult baseball book.
It follows a Brooklyn family, starting in the 1800s, by examining their ties to baseball and to Brooklyn.

The long holiday weekend is a perfect time to give it a read. It can be found on Libby and other digital platforms.

One of my Christmas gifts. This towel was given out at the Blair Walsh game. It was one of the coldest games in NFL history. Walsh attempted a short field goal with 4 seconds left that would have won the game. He missed and the Seahawks won.

I saw the title of this book and was curious. I read the description, but it didn't mention Willie Mays or Dwight Clark once. 🤷‍♂️.

As a baseball guy, I find it very odd that only 5 NHL teams have losing records while 28 teams have .500 or better records.

The #MNTwins projected payroll for the up coming 2026 season is between 113M and 115M.

15 years ago the teams payroll was also $113M.

Question for the #Cardsky community. Why are the Los Angeles Lakers players wearing their jerseys backwards on 1972 Topps cards?

If you could collect all of the advertising backs for one non-Hall of Fame player in the T206 set, who would it be?

I would go with Gravy Cravath with the Minneapolis Millers.

Fred Snodgrass appears to be angry about something on his T206 card. Could he be thinking about the muffed ball he dropped in the World Series, or is he just upset that his last name is Snodgrass?

Steve Hamilton is best known in the sports world as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. However, his first sports card shows him as a member of the Morehead Eagles basketball team in the 1955 Ashland/Aetna Oil set.

What other player's first card shows them in a secondary sport?

Some time ago, I bought this cool framed newspaper from the 1906 World Series that shows players from the Cubs and the White Sox. I never knew if someone intentionally put a hole in it to create art or if they found it damaged. Anyway, I found the full page.
