Least favorite guy in MN politics, learned basically this lesson about his unseriousness running a campaign against his inexperienced-ass for county attorney in 2023. He crowded out the left-of-center lane in the primary, then lost an *off-year Dakota County race to a conservative* in the general 🙃

Brooks is *prescribing* a democracy where the minority party intentionally lets American citizens suffer because it's good politics. It's antithetical to his entire centrist political project, but when you're singularly driven by a need for hot takes that dunk on the Democrats `\_(:/)_/`

I have several that are downstream of determinism, i.e. I think alcoholics shouldn't be inherently deprioritized on the liver donation list compared to cancer patients (relapse risk aside), because them becoming an alcoholic was as little of a choice to them as getting cancer is

Doesn't matter if you have the same preferences as others ranking your slate, since your 0.5 vote getting tied up frees, say, 0.001 votes from 500 co-partisans to your mutual next choice

But if your slate differs (like voters ranking the partial labor slate + Schneider) order really matters

It has meaningful strategic ramifications, since most of your vote will get eaten up by the first candidate your ballot counts for, even if they were likely to win anyways
