I know it isn't worth my time to treat NYT opinion columnists like coherent thinkers, but it's just so galling to watch filibuster-supporter David Brooks insist that Democrats trying to win the bipartisan concessions he so fetishizes are the real problem with our democracy

People saying stuff like this are cranks, and almost as far outside the scientific mainstream as climate deniers

Under the SSP2-4.5 "middle road" scenario (which imo is a bit pessimistic) we expect warming of 1.4-3 deg C by 2100 (IPCC AR6)

Corresponding sea level rise of less than a meter

In fact, the research group cited in the article--Opportunity Insights--elsewhere conclude that standardized tests are less biased against low-income students than almost any other aspect of "holistic admissions"

Ratboy continues his war of attrition against Minneapolis Public Works

A sawblade is left embedded in the concrete on the Lyndale Ave construction, waiting for a worthy passerby to remove it and rule the bike lane

It's bad that housing is so expensive in Blue states, and the results from redistricting will mildly hurt Democrats. But the Electoral College dooming is seriously overblown.

Only one election since 1948--Bush v Gore--was decided by an Electoral Vote margin close enough for redistricting to matter.

Learned a lesson today about getting off my ass sooner and taking action. By the time I got to Lake and Bloomington the vans had already rolled off (and KSTP was setting up). Won't make that mistake again!

While Angie Craig put up a huge margin in 2024, the history is more mixed on her strength as a candidate.

This year she out performed Harris by 7.7%, but it was the first year she beat the top of the ticket (it's worth noting that 3rd parties consistently dragged down her vote share)

All of the model variables were highly correlated precinct-by-precinct, as you can see below, so it would be a lot of work to do any kind of inference the specific relationships between demographic variables and mayoral candidates.

Maps of Minneapolis for each of the underlying model variables. Ilhan Omar primary vote share and renter % were the most important variables in the model.

At long last, a complete model of the mayoral results from the 2025 Minneapolis DFL Precinct Caucus!

I aggregated the replies to @wedge.live and other delegate counts I could find from last night's Minneapolis DFL precinct caucuses.

It's hard to draw any conclusions, since the sample is far from representative. We have results from 35% of precincts, with nearly all reports from Wards 1-3 and 7-12.
