🥳 It's paper day for the completed #ESO Kilo-Degree Survey. We end our journey with a consistent picture of #cosmology 😲
I've been co-leading KiDS for 12yrs & I'm so proud of what the team's achieved. If you're at the #Euclid meet, go to Angus Wright's talk @10am today!🔭

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY! 🤩

Euclid is incredible! I really cannot believe how amazing this telescope is!
The new EULICD data release is AMAZING! 🔭

Here's a before / after of a random galaxy I found in one of the new images, comparing against the Digitized Sky Survey.

I highly recommend taking a look around on ESA Sky - it's fun! Link: sky.esa.int/esasky/?targ...

Some employers/institutes do not accept applicant from "designated countries". Should they still call themself "Equal Opportunity Employer"?

Many US-based postdoc positions this year are 1-year extendable. This poses problems for researchers who need visas to (re-)enter the US. Unlike Canada or Germany, one needs to leave the US to apply for a visa extension which could result in endless "administrative processing" (1/2).

btw the package name Tiaogeng (调羹) is the Chinese word for “spoon”. “tiao(调)” means to reconcile and “geng (羹)” refers to a Chinese-style thick soup. The code reconciles the unevenly observed sky, just as a tiaogeng stirs soup to make it taste more balanced and delicious.

Paper day! (arxiv.org/abs/2410.23141) In this paper, we present a blinded measurement of the angular two-point correlation function (2PCF) from the KiDS-Legacy catalogue. We find that variable depth in the data due to complex selection effects, can significantly overestimate the 2PCF...(1/3)

Photons, meet the Commissioning Camera 🤝

On October 24, Rubin staff successfully completed the first end-to-end on-sky test of the full telescope system using the testing camera — from capturing the sky to transferring data to SLAC! 🔭🧪

Hi there! I'm currently in the job market for a postdoc in cosmology. My research interests include multi-tracer analyses of large-scale structure and building pipelines for future cosmological surveys. Please check my personal website (yanzastro.github.io) for more details about myself!
