I think the chant every time Trump speaks from now on should be “Quiet, quiet Piggy [clap, clap]. Quiet, quiet Piggy [clap, clap]...”

Feed, by Mira Grant (2010). As much a political thriller as a zombie/horror title, it was remarkably prescient about the effects of a pandemic, including the rise of Christian Nationalists, who were/are willing to use fear & lies to sacrifice the lives of Americans while pursuing & wielding power.

Gramps got out again, climbed up onto the roof, and, once more, is yelling at a cloud. Somebody go up, speak to him gently, bring him down, and put him to bed. Please.

Trump misheard the lyrics to the old Beach Boys’ song and in a fit of narcissistic dementia, thought they were his foreign policy…
Bomb bomb bommb, bomb bomb Iran.
Bomb bomb bommb, bomb bomb Iran.
You got ‘em rockin' and a rollin', rockin' and a reelin'
Bomb Iran, bomb bomb bommb, bomb bomb Iran.

I’m listening-to/reading Pride and Prejudice for the severaleth time and, as always, laughing a lot, like here at the caricature that is Mrs. Bennet:
“Well, my comfort is I am sure Jane will die of a broken heart and then he will be sorry for what he has done.”

“It seemed to him that people must pass through each other’s lives all the time, touch them, be touched by them, leave something behind maybe. Like a star that fell, you became a memory.” Observation of a character in Children of Earth and Sky, by Guy Gavriel Kay.

This middle-grade novel is even more relevant today than when it was published in 2017 as more bigots crawl out of the woodwork.
As the 4th-grade heroine says, “Look, the point is, once you ban one book, somebody somewhere can find a reason to ban every book.”

Try subbing “MAGA” for “numpties” - it's a perfect fit!

“The thing about numpties, Mog, is that they can always find plenty of other numpties to believe their numpty-nonsense."

(from Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow, by Jessica Townsend - excellent kids' fantasy)

“Cuticle care can tell you a lot about a person.” The 5th Wave, by Rick Yancey (YA SF).

So true!! Just look at Musk’s bloody, nail-bitten fingers (although he seldom shows them except when saluting). Either something is very off upstairs, it’s ketamine, or a combo of both.

Mortimer, by Robert Munsch was my absolute favorite book for storytime:
- funny
- repetitive
- funny
- includes an oft-repeated, easy sing-along 2-line song
- funny
- repetitive
- kid listeners have *been* Mortimer (at least -ish)
- funny
- repetitive
