So, the Martian Habitats and their Residents are important. And Would love to learn other words that people can use to speak about Space Exploration and settling other planets that don't make those explorers into the colonizers who terrorized their ancestors.

The book was able to have the narrative exist but it was a small piece. There was not the pushback there would have been in real life, and that's fine. The book's main conflict wasn't about that.
But I think it is well worth discussing wider and will stay with me. Words Matter.

So. In the book our Lead Character (white, cishet Jewish Woman) is speaking with her international team and uses "Colony" and two other women visibly react negatively. And while I know how terrible colonization was, I have never tripped to the use of it for Space Exploration and expansion.

The first time I cut into a done sock was a trip. And my wife was def like 'um... these are tubes.' NOT FOR LONG!
