Writer of genre fiction. Possibly an eldritch being who's existence is anathema to this world, more likely just neurodivergent.
Too academic for normal life, too punk rock for academia.
It had better not be controversial!

That song is the reason I wanted to play the saxophone when I was little, so it means a lot to me.

Me: Oh, sweet.

Wife: So, what is that?

Me: It’s such a crazy comic. Super creative and ballsy in its world building. It’s really inspiring but I never feel good recommending it because (infodump on Alejandro Jodorowski).

Wife: Yeah, maybe don’t tell my mom that.

Their packaging system doesn’t account for every fish rarity so you can find some kinds just by looking at them. Make sure to grab any that seem bloated, whatever is inside is basically guaranteed to be a botulism variant.

Reader 3 (folktales): A great picture of a captain who falls into madness. You should take out the speculative elements and make it historical fiction.

...but then it's just one more retelling of the Flying Dutchman...

Reader 2 (fantasy): I'd like to see more world building and explanations of the gods and the Trawlerman reaper figure.

I am trying to stay under 4k words, and this is a folk tale, it isn't really meant to be a hard fantasy world. I don't see further world building adding anything to the story.

Reader 1 (sci-fi): The route the starship takes and the overall landscape of space are inaccurate.

I kind of figured the sci-fi nerds would dislike that particular poetic license, but I think it fits the story and I'm not out to write accurate SF.
