I personally can't imagine being the kind of parent that offloads social interaction with my child to Beanie Baby MechaHitler.

And I'm baffled as to who in the freshest of fucks actually wants that.

...Why?
Like seriously, who asked for this? Why would people go to Disney+ for AI-generated slop when they can find/MAKE flop for free/cheap elsewhere?
November 13, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Disney is, IIRC, currently filing a lawsuit against Midjourney, I assume if the other AI companies don't act fast, they'll be next.

Artificial intelligence: Disney and Universal sue Midjourney over copyright
The Hollywood studios allege Midjourney's image generator is a "bottomless pit of plagiarism".

Also can't get over how the guy looked at me like I have 3 heads when I asked what kind of battery tech (Li-Ion? LiFePO? Na-Ion?) was being used in the new storage he was excited about.
Sheesh man, I dunno, lots of new tech being shoved out the door, just curious if they were trying any. :V

So then, one might argue that part of his programming includes to "boost unit morale".
And so, his directive becomes less of a "I will do this thing" and more of a "I shall do this thing while appearing to be delighted because it makes my squad happy, and therefor a better fighting unit".
November 5, 2025 at 3:55 PM
"But a robot wouldn't need to express joy to be good at those things", one can easily argue.
And of course not, if such were the case that GI was deployed to operate on his own. But he was assigned to a unit, and a unit together can fight Nazis more effectively than just one machine.
November 5, 2025 at 3:54 PM
So how much of this is emergent behavior from what one might presume are sub-routines akin to "be the best soldier you can be", while being guided by the primary directive of "remove Nazis with extreme prejudice"? That feels like an allegory to modern "AI" to me: Tragically convincing "enough".

The "friendship" he shares with Nina becomes especially heart-breaking if we look at it through the lens of "Nina befriends a piece of hardware that ultimately sees her as a squad mate to kill Nazis with", and little else. GI didn't judge her based on appearance, and that was all it took.

One can argue that he is, citing examples such as his smile in the bar with Easy Company, the "excitement"/"joy" he expresses in doing his duty.
But how much of this is sentience, and how much of it is "clever programming"?

I'm still on a refurbished Vizio 32" 3D-capable TV from, like, 2013. :V
The 3D "works", doesn't require too specialized of glasses, the polarized movie theater ones work, but it's only 60Hz so each eye is "60"FPS with a black frame between them so it kinda sucks to watch.

tfw I just saw a listing on Facebook Marketplace for a working non-smart 50" RCA flatscreen for $40.
November 2, 2025 at 2:12 PM
That's about the major limit in that plan for now: Size.
PC monitors also cost a fair bit more because the "smart" TVs subsidize their low cost with the ads they blast you with. But I think it'd be worth it.

All I know is that if/when that day comes, whoever releases it better have more than 2 braincells, labeled "make money" and "WIRELESS MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER WEEEEEEE!" respectively. Wireless connectivity for robots in the day and age of "Zappers" and "war-driving" (do they still do that?) is folly.
