Just another account
Employment statistics are deceiving. Anecdotally, it seems like "good" jobs are disappearing and "bad" jobs are still... mostly available, but not even really, as most of those are getting automated wherever possible. We're building the machinery to fuel unemployment. This makes an ironic sense.

The thing that scares the most is that the poll numbers haven't moved. Almost half the country thinks that everything the Republicans are doing is fine. The numbers go up and down by small single digits, but that's it. We need to pierce the bubble somehow and show them reality.

When people grill Pete Hesgeth about whether sending in the military is legal, what they're missing is he knows damn well it's not legal. He doesn't care. He just looks at the camera and says "we're supporting law and order," and gets picked up by Fox News. They don't give a shit if it's legal.

People who are delusional often speak with a tone of authority, because they truly believe in their delusions, and want to convince you of their truth. How do we confront this problem when it's a politician, or other person in power? How can we challenge this?

I keep seeing takes that say that AI will eliminate 20% to 50% of all jobs in the next ten years, and that we'll have to come up with new jobs to replace those lost. But do we? Wasn't that the whole point of automating everything? Do we HAVE to make up work just to justify a person's right to live?

I read this entire article and it's great stuff. Highly recommend. Very thoughtful.

Apparently something like 30% of Americans think of themselves as "temporarily poor wealthy people" and therefore if they tax the wealthy, they're harming their future selves or their children. But only about .3% will ever actually be wealthy. It's a fascinating fallacy that we need to tackle.

I'm seeing posts and shares saying that HIV is no longer a terminal illness. While technically true, that is a dangerous take. Yes, end the stigma. But YOU DO NOT WANT HIV. IF you have insurance and can afford the meds, and IF you depend on pharma to keep you alive, ONLY THEN is it not terminal.

The Grok “white genocide” incident is a clear example of techno-fascism.

Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Thiel (Palantir), Andreessen (a16z), Armstrong (Coinbase) and other billionaires subscribe to the neoreactionary movement which aims to replace democracy with authoritarian “network states”.

Reminder that the 13th Amendment prohibits slavery, except for those who are incarcerated. In case you're wondering why the current administration is trying to criminalize things like protesting. They're literally enslaving their enemies. Oh and reducing minimum wage is also replacement slavery.

In case you're wondering why nobody on the right seems particularly concerned that 5 million people just went out into the streets to express rage, it's because right-wing media just isn't reporting it, or they are lying about it, and half of America only tunes in to those sources of information.

If you think this can’t happen, remember that of the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII for years without charge or trial, two-thirds were U.S. citizens. Including me.

2/2 That's why they're tearing apart educational and artistic institutions. They don't feel "heard" enough. And I don't know what to do with that information. It doesn't help to just tell them, "We hear you. You're just wrong."

1/2 The more I read about the motives behind the right-wing insanity, the more I realize it's about them being angry that their uninformed opinion isn't being taken as seriously as educated people's research. That's kind of it in a nutshell.
