to be fair I firmly believe in the general theory that basically everybody's politics are incoherent

and like these are core issues to him, at the center of what he thinks is wrong with america. you don't have to press him that hard to get him talking about this. he just firmly believes those are centrist, moderate views that align with capitalist interests.

this is almost universal with the single exception of my dad. dude claims to be a centrist, but if you press him he'll say he wants universal healthcare, robust free public transport, housing as a human right etc. then in the same breath he says hes a capitalist through and through. weird guy
