My giant 1996 green Russian Big Muff . . . Keep thinking I'll find something smaller to take its place, never happens.

Um 🤔 Sure?

What if . . . And this might sound crazy . . . We work hard to match kids with the post-secondary option that is best suited to their skills and future aspirations? (The actual crazy part would be agreeing as a country to invest in making it affordable regardless of which you choose.)

Being woke just means being aware. Staying cognizant of what is happening around you in the world, and often more specifically not ignoring the injustices that surround us.

So to confirm, we are in agreement that Die Hard is a Christmas movie?
December 15, 2024 at 10:35 PM
👆 This. Republicans campaigned on being anti-identity politics and anti-woke far more than Democrats actually used either. And, let's face it, Democrats have let Republicans define identity politics and wokeness in ways that have no connection to where either started.

That's just making my point more effectively for me. No one was "triggered," no one's being a dick. I didn't spend my life fighting for people to be kinder and more tolerant to be part of the side that doesn't understand the actual fucking importance of language.

You talk about the dangers of infighting, but I think one of the biggest dangers facing the progressive movement right now is that it becomes too much like the conservative movement where ideals are entirely forgotten for the sake of "winning."

This isn't about grammar, though. And I'm not shooting a messenger. I'm saying, hey look at how your message could be more effective if . . . Your response to that is what is creating unnecessary conflict.

One could just jump in here and said, "You're right. Words do matter and that was the wrong choice, I'll do better next time." It's the digging in of the heels that keeps us from the real fight, not the person who points out there's a better way to fight.

Imagine if someone reposted a picture of you hugging your dog, but then in the caption suggested that you're into bestiality. That's basically what she does.
December 7, 2024 at 3:12 PM
Sure, some Democrats are hypocrites, too. But by definition, Democrats are not Communists. There is an actual Communist political party in the US and if someone is a Democrat, they're not a member of that party.

Unless you explain otherwise, I'm sort of forced to leave this conversation making that assumption.
December 6, 2024 at 11:43 PM
I guess I'm left to assume that your initial laughter was simply gleeful agreement. Something along the lines of, "You're right. Those conservatives never seem to know what they're talking about."
December 6, 2024 at 11:32 PM
Thanks for the assist there. Good looking out.
December 6, 2024 at 11:23 PM
Well, I agreed with you that conservatives should stop politicizing children to push their agenda. Then I asked you why you found that amusing and here we are trapped in this interesting little circular conversation.
December 6, 2024 at 11:20 PM
I'm pretty calm, to be honest. If I wasn't, I would still be here waiting to see if you have something meaningful to say.

Yes.
