SCOTUS knows that detention centers have little to no oversight. Legal representation can sit in a lobby all day for days, to see their established client, just to get turned away at the end with an (oh gosh) shrug and no excuses. Detention centers are rarely held responsible for their actions
The Supreme Court issued a terrible decision tonight, holding that the only way for people to challenge their detention and possible rendition under the Alien Enemies Act is by filing a habeas petition in the judicial district where they are being detained.
