to clarify further, they will talk about the very stuff that we can tell is inspired by other games and go on about how it's a revolutionary invention for the genre. Thus, they get branded for this being their first rpg, so, baby's first rpg.

That criticism is not about the game not being all that good, everyone that's actually played it recognizes it IS good, it's about the fanbase. Particularly, the majority of that fanbase that talks as if E33 was the first ever good rpg and the only one worth playing "unlike that cringe anime shit".

"It looks like a PS2 game" boring, untrue, shows that you lack important video game culture
"it looks like the 3DS port of Xenoblade Chronicles" funny, painfully true, fact that only the best gamers know about

because the grammar used implies the world itself as an individual and those as that individual's preferences, rather than the broad preferences of the individuals *within* the world.

It's technically correct phrasing but, only technically.
