Volgens mij niet. Mensen op belangrijke posities zijn niet bang om arm te worden. Ze vrezen wel (waarschijnlijk vaak correct) dat ze na een principiële ruzie nooit meer een vergelijkbaar belangrijke positie te krijgen.

Yes its all weird. Like, why not count the years before chatgpt? Why compare paid services to free?

Minecraft was released in 2010 or 2011, depending how you measure. Best I can tell it got to 100 million monthly users around 2020. By that metric it would be near the bottom of the list.

It reached 100 million copies sold some years earlier.

Not crazy long ago, brick walls were the cost-optimal solution to build durable walls in this climate.

There are now better and lower cost solutions for the structural and the cladding functions. It's mostly an aesthetic choice now.

Brick layer wages go up, everyone switches to an alternative.

Ah too young to have orgies with aella, I miss those days

Alletwee, denk ik? Ik heb de indruk dat de sterke positie van de Franse president ook corrosief werkt op de rest van hum democratisch systeem.

Chatgpt, probably

(Sorry)

Also, unlike in martial arts, in warfare you can aim to be four big guys against the clever small one.

Here in NL, white is the base price, anything else costs 1300 extra.

Usually a base color is mildly unattractive, it's for very price sensitive buyers only.

It used to be a weird grey for Teslas, but they changed it to an OK white color some years ago. That was effectively a price drop.

He goes out of his way to make a flexible system, then a guy called Stone comes in and says "looks solid"
May 27, 2025 at 7:15 AM
That is reasonable advice though, isnt it?

JK Galbraith talked about the "bezzle", the money that a defrauded mark still think they have, while the embezzler knows they have it.

Until the fraud comes out, the world seems to be richer from it.

I am always amused by people who don't piss in the sea because it would make the water dirty.
May 26, 2025 at 5:22 PM
The energy use is good to be critical of. It's the focus on water that's so weird. The water loss comes from evaporating it with electricity! The energy required is automatically orders more important than the water loss.

Thats why the hypothetical works so well on Peterson. He is pretending to be a super principled person, the kind that would risk his life for ethics.
May 26, 2025 at 11:32 AM
Also, the Nazi hypothetical is on the table because Peterson plays games with the less extreme examples.

It can be optimized, but it's important to still keep it very, very simple. Something that anyone can figure out in half an hour, without any risk of misunderstanding the rule.
May 24, 2025 at 9:47 AM
Oh, that same argument was used here to kill the policy as well.
May 24, 2025 at 9:31 AM
We had a similar policy in the Netherlands (with similar opposition to it). Home builders liked a wide approach because it is predictable. Tick the box, done, no messy ecological assesments that are different in every municipality. Guaranteed supply of lowcost suitable units because everyone needs

Arcades were pretty much that tough, addicting child casinos

I never realized that zork was actually sold, let alone for that kind of money. I guess I pictured it as some weird hobby project that got passed around on copied floppy disks

The library of Congress only needs those petabutes because they're playing BG3
May 24, 2025 at 6:06 AM
Don't worry, the Netherlands is cutting funding so there is no money for Americans anyway
