It's a family joke that us cousins are incapable of dabbling in "hobbies." Everything is intense, obsessive pursuit till standards of competence are satisfied. Interestingly, this manifested in individual behaviour before being realized as a collective family trait 🙂

Your writing must come from a place of authenticity, especially in poetry. Even in fiction, even if what you write isn't your lived experience, it should still move YOU as the writer. Otherwise, how can you expect it to move the reader?
