I report on the Bay Area, mostly Richmond and Vallejo these days for Richmondside and The Vallejo Sun. I post about Oakland too and might editorialize a bit about the town. I live there. Feel free to reach out: Zack.Haber@gmail.com
Well that escalated quickly…power outage hit my place and some neighbors in West Oakland, now they’re saying they hope to have it fixed by noon *tomorrow* 😬…

Brine for both is white vinegar, salt, and a little honey. Brine changed color due to the veggies involved. I let them sit for three days. Put these tasty pickles in my burrito just now…

Quick pickling is so good and an easy google. First one is purple carrots, golden beets, jalapeño, witches butter (<—easily foraged mushroom you can eat raw!), a little bit of garlic clove.

Second one is golden beets, onion and celery.

Extremely soft resolution that doesn’t even limit data center’s water use but just requires them to be open about how much water they use, rejected by Newsom because AI progress 🙃…

TL;DR... Kaiser is saying they'll make the vaccine available to all members six months or older at no cost, and they'll start getting it Monday...

This is the weirdest mailer I’ve gotten all year, which is saying a lot.

Just propaganda from oil company lobbyists that doesn’t actually urge action on any way.

SF and East Bay air quality map. Felt it the second I woke up. They call 50-100 “moderate” but even air like this doesn’t feel good for me. Hope we it gets better and definitely hope this doesn’t become normal…

I believe if they do form the union, all Starbucks in Oakland would be unionized, as the other two unionized in 2023...

Will be very impressed if anyone can identify this tree without using an app. Doesn’t help that my cell phone camera isn’t of the highest quality. This was taken in Marin County California.

Hint: it’s an ancient type of tree! Any guesses?
