I’ve got my tickets for it and I’m obscenely excited to see it tomorrow, but I do think there’s a certain air around it that people want it to be the greatest thing ever with no flaws. I’m expecting it to be good and that’s fine. But if certain things don’t work properly, that’s okay as well.

Got me. I could talk for ages about Bob’s only safe place within the void being an attic space above a traumatic event or his uncomfortableness within the actual sentry suit but I’ve rambled enough. In short, film incredible.

was able to get free and was trying to reach Bob to him. To remind me that he’s not alone and that he’s okay. Coupled with the rest of the team giving him a hug and cooling him down, I was fully ready to start sobbing. Having being in similar places across my life, seeing Bob break down really

But what I think really got me the most is Bob deciding to actively fight the void and almost succumbing to what the void wants. The idea of forcefully trying beat your trauma to death not actually working and simply making it worse is great. I was honestly on the verge of tears when Yelena

I deeply resonated with how Bob sort of latches on to Yelena and she him, in the state that she’s his safe space. I know there’s platonic and romantic readings of it, I don’t mind either, but there’s something so powerful in how he cares about her and trusts her enough with his trauma.

Something I’m really happy with is that they kept the theme of Bob being an addict. It doesn’t make him a monster, it makes him tragic. We all know what Addictions does to mental health and that obviously didn’t help Bob’s mindset and contributes to how the void starts to form within.

I think too hard about my trauma, but instantly recognised everything Bob was going through and it honestly felt painful. Because I’ve been there when people are getting to close to the truth and you have to protect yourself before you answer questions about what you’ve gone through.

Who shoot him is perfect. Moving on to the next point, the way he talks about himself, the way he recoils when he recalls stuff about his life, was incredibly triggering for me. I’ve had depression, CPTSD anxiety for half my life and I’m fortunate enough to be at a point where I don’t recoil when

Not being able to rise above a void within, gets out. Like snapping back at Walker for being a dick or wanting to stand out so he joins the Sentry program. This factors in to how menacing he can look when he’s just too angry with everything that’s happening. Like that look he gives the soldiers

Yelena as a point of contact makes perfect sense. I also like that, while he’s avoiding conflict, there’s a layer of frustration beneath it all. Because even if you’re depressed to hell (I haven’t seen an accurate diagnosis of Bob yet so depression is just my go to), eventually the frustration of

Several things, namely Lewis Pullman’s incredible performance. The first thing I noticed is his physical performance. He’s a fairly tall guy but he slouches and crouches as if he’s desperately trying to stay out of sight. Even how he sometimes shrinks from John Walker’s view and sticks close to

Most of his appearances in comics. The idea of the strongest being on the Earth being plagued by addiction and mental health issues is fascinating. Yes he devolved into a bit of a one note character by Siege but I still loved everything that came before. What I think really got me in the film is

Concept art. I genuinely love that we’ve arrived at a point in the MCU where we can have projects like this where things can be different and we get fun and unique stuff. When I heard the rumbles about the Sentry appearing, I was even more excited. I love the premise of The Sentry and I’ve read

So I’m hoping thunderbolts can get into that.

I’m so excited to see him fully because I think there’s a chance to redeem the character a little. By the era of the dark avengers comics, what makes sentry interesting is replaced with a one note man child thing. I still like how creepy he is, but there’s a weird sense that the nuance has been lost

Anyway, it’s still good, I just wish it was more.

Shifting back to DD though, even though the stuff with the hand does get creepy, the supernatural elements still feel undercooked and that’s frustrating because it means we don’t get the hints of the beast or how effective the hand is.

Got was a grainy video of an older Iron Fist showing off his abilities in a far better way than Danny ever gets to do. Even the thundering idiot comment from Stick is a real shame considering how damn effective Danny is in the comics.

Neutered. This is where the larger defenders stuff falls apart for me. I think Jessica Jones is fine, as is most of Daredevil and elements of Luke Cage. But then Iron Fist can’t fight a dragon and use the iron fist too often because it’s seen as goofy. In fact the best piece of Iron Fist media we
