my Weird Games in 2025™ journey continues with Crimson Shroud, a bit-sized D&D game for the 3DS developed by Level 5 and led by Yasumi Matsuno (??!) one of those games that's been on my list forever and is proving to be a pretty cool little adventure.

finished Final Fantasy VIII last night for the first time in 20+ years. damn, this game hit like a truck as an adult. it's flawed for sure but the ideas here are absolutely stellar and the aesthetic is s-tier. still among my favorite FF's, maybe even higher after this most recent trip.

today is the 10 year anniversary of Bloodborne, an incredibly important game to me personally and professionally. i love this game so so much and it's one of the few games that i think is *actually* perfect.

it cannot be understated how much fun i'm having with Monster Hunter Wilds. the HR gameplay loop is sublime, the Monster Hunter community is so wholesome, and the memes are absolutely unhinged. i love it so much.

(finally) finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard! after 71 hours i can firmly say it’s Good™️ sort of a slog toward the end and a lot of uneven writing/ character moments throughout but the stuff that works is really great and the last few missions whip ass. 7.5/10

for a guy who had zero interest in Dragon Age a month ago, i sure have played a shitload of Dragon Age recently. it’s absolutely smooth-brained fantasy but the characters are fun and the combat rips.
