So remember that multi-craftual blanket I posted about working on? Well it's done! Or, as done as it's going to be. I probably should put a border on it to clean up the edges, but honestly I think I'm okay with it as-is.

Ripley certainly is, as she's already claimed it for herself. 🐈‍⬛🧶

Ripley prefers to take her water out of doors now.

Since we spend so much time in the yard together, I bought a few of these stainless steel tureens to place in a few areas. I used rocks from my lovely rock pile to weigh them down.

She's already gone back to it 3 times in the last 20 minutes. 🖤🐈‍⬛

My cat has a whole yard of grass to lay in, but she wants to sit in the dirt, on the asphalt, next to the rock pile.

This feels like the outside version of sitting in the box the toy came in.

I feel like I should follow up last week's post about being defeated by my toilet install, with this video of my toilet flushing. Like music to my ears!

With the help of a friend, some longer screws, and a better subfloor repair, we were able to get everything seated properly. Next up, the sink 😬

I would like to propose a change to the acronym D.I.Y.

Henceforth, it shall be D.I.I.Y.D. (Do It If You Dare).

Perhaps I Dared where I shouldn't have.

2 months in on the project, 1 month in on figuring out how to install a toilet properly.

Ripley is doing her best to keep me from crying.
A walk-in shower that is filled with various tools, multiple toilet flanges and parts, a paper grocery bag heaping with garbage. Evidence of a bunch of half executed ideas. A beautifully tiled mint green, hex mosaic floor that the poster is very proud to have installed herself (with helpful supervision). On it are more tools and instruction sheets piled in a corner under the pipes that stick out from the wall where a sink used to be. Near that is a toilet flange that is in desperate need of a decent subfloor, but has instead had several failed experiments inflicted upon it. Red flange extensions sit under a white, twist & lock flange insert, and are just an idea, not a solution. An adorable, petite black cat lays curled in the doorway, cooling herself on the tiles. She is there for emotional support.

Amazon is really running with the 90's/00's throwback and bringing us catalogs again. The layouts really remind me of all those teen magazines too.

Gotta say, I really do love me a catalog.

Thank goodness for Ravelry, as I have a lead on a couple skeins that may come close, but what a bummer. I even wove my ends in. As I went along!

I thought I had better knitting karma than that.

I did take this time to lay out all the pieces though, and came up with this.

We'll see. Not sure. 🤔
15 knitted and crocheted squares are laid out on a bed, 3 across 5 down. Almost all of them have a medium grey single crochet border on all 4 sides. No pattern is the same, and while some of the colors from each square appear in others, no square is the same color. It's a sampler of colors as well as patterns and will probably only ever be loved by me.

Hindsight, blah, blah. I played yarn chicken right up to the last square, and lost on the second of four sides.

Now I need to try and track down a skein that will come even remotely close so I can finish the first project of this size that I've ever attempted.

I was sooooo close!

Blanket update: I finished making all my squares, ends woven in & everything, so I started on the mono-color border on each, to tie it all together.

I purchased 2 skeins (~800 yds) of Spincycle Metamorphic, a batch-made yarn where no two batches are alike...

Ripley met the neighbor cat chilling on their catio today.

It did not go well. 😂

She was forced to check her privilege as I steered her away, explaining that not all cats get to roam around the whole yard. She's having a deep think about it on the couch now.

Guess what? I made my jeans too! The pattern is the Morgan jeans from Closet Core and I used their jeans making class to learn how. Would you believe this is one of the first garments I've sewn? They both have a lot of "lessons" in them, but it feels really good to wear something you made yourself.

Take a moment away from all the horrors going on in the US and take a look at this shirt I just made. The pattern is the Jane t-shirt from Seamwork, and I used their Serger basics class to learn how to make it. Highly recommend!
