I've tried to read 2 YA novels this summer to make suggestions to my students, and both were queer romances. I thought they were each just YA books; heterosexual, going to be dumb/simple plots. But even when I'm not looking for it, I attract the queers (both destroyed me emotionally)

I think a lot of people gloss over the fact that the only media in the hunger games is reruns and reanalyses of past games. Rehashing of the same propaganda but sold and packaged in different fonts. The morals being pushed are the same. The people in control are the same. You get it.
