For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme, I've picked an Anna's hummingbird, who is afraid of nothing under the sky;
a Canada goose, who knows you're probably more afraid of him than the other way around;
and my personal favourite, a Greater Roadrunner who usually does run away but approached me instead

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is going to be a 'Daily Double' with a theme of any bird #Flying meaning it doubles up with #FlyDay, the Alternative is 'Blue Tits'

Marsh Harrier, Grey Heron, Glossy Ibis & Greylag Geese at WWT Martin Mere 02/10/2025

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, how about a Northern Cardinal surrounded by greenery and giving some intense side-eye? Also this Anna's Hummingbird is showing off her iridescent green back

Squeezing in a last minute response to #BirdOfTheDay!

For a theme about bushes, I would be totally remiss if I did not pick the Bushtit in the bush

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is wings!

A Cassin's Kingbird, Anna's Hummingbird, and Red-tailed Hawk (juvenile) couldn't be more different, but each one has a pair of beautiful wings ♥️

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, I went a bit nostalgic

The first Paridae family member I ever encountered was the Japanese Tit (if you'll excuse the poor camera back then)

And the last Paridae family member I've ever met was the Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Luckily for me, this Great Blue Heron I picked for #BirdOfTheDay both has its beak full and is wading at the same time!
For a bit of a cuter palate cleanse, I also have a Western Spindalis munching on a berry and an Orange-crowned Warbler with a mouth full of feather

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, I've only ever seen American Kestrels, but even within the species there's fun variations

Here I have a pale-bellied version (one of the Caribbean subspecies) next to her Northern cousin

First of all, what a lovely surprise to come across a Monty Python reference in the bird community!

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, the theme is the Ministry of Silly Walks, so I've picked a Savannah Sparrow fully booking it, as well as a Neotropic Cormorant who fully understood the assignment

Ducks! I love ducks so much 🥰

For today's #BirdOfTheDay I've picked American Wigeons, Ruddy Ducks, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall! These are all recent photos, so it's eclipse time for most of our ducks at the moment

For today's #BirdOfTheDay, I've picked a Snowy Egret who coincidentally also has its Tongue out for Tuesday! And also a Forster's Tern demonstrating its aerodynamic ability

Oof, today's #BirdOfTheDay is kind of difficult. At the moment, I guess I'll pick cuckoos in general as my favourite birds

As an example, these Smooth-billed Anis popped up out of the bushes to watch me pass by. Such muppets

For today's #BirdOfTheDay of a bird with three or more colours, I have a very aptly-named Tricolored Heron 👀

But also an adorable (feral) Red-Crowned Amazon being photogenic!

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is our Smallest birds

By all measures that must be a hummingbird around here, so I've included an Allen's Hummingbird and a Bahama Woodstar, but may I petition for an honourable mention for the fluffy and borbular Bushtit?

I don't own a traditional bird bath for today's #BirdOfTheDay, but luckily birds are resourceful little guys!

I have found a Western Bluebird using a dog fountain, and an American Crow in a shallow creek

For #BirdOfTheDay, may I present a Common Yellowthroat on a fence.

If we're extending past perching birds and letting wading birds join in, these adorable Sanderlings run with the waves everyday on the beach

Ooh, I've just heard of #BirdOfTheDay 💛

Let's go with a Swinhoe's White-eye munching on a pomegranate seed, plus an inquisitive Thick-billed Vireo

Okay this was a fun day. I saw some of the ever-photogenic Scaly-breasted Munia with some fledglings following them around begging for food, so I assumed they were Munia fledglings at the time. Turns out the younglings are brood parasites instead, Pin-Tailed Whydahs (1/2)

A Yellow-breasted Chat gave me a rather severe look as it launched itself into the air #birds #wildlife 🤨

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher shows off the goods while collecting nesting material. Taken with a 400mm lens, so I did not get close! He still saw me while using his body to squish down a gnatcatcher-shaped depression though #birds #wildlife 🪺

This Pin-Tailed Whydah in his glorious breeding plumage strikes a dramatic pose. The migrant birds may be gone for us now, but at least we've still got our year-round residents to ooh over (even if this guy isn't native here) #birds #wildlife 🌻
